Impact of patient counselling on perception and medication adherence of hypertensive patients with chronic kidney disease

Chronic Kidney Disease is a progressive and irreversible loss of renal function. The purpose the study was to understand how patient counselling affects perception, medication adherence identify risk factors non-adherence. A Cross-sectional prospective done among 109 hypertensive patients with for 6 months. All participants were interviewed obtain detailed socio-demographic medical data. Patient provided in two sessions. Patients asked fill out Knowledge, Attitude, Practice questionnaire, Morisky Medication Adherence Scale -8 pre post counselling. information leaflets at end eighth week. results show that mean score, there significant increase total knowledge from baseline 0.79±0.77 1.22±0.69 fourth week 1.57±0.54 improved 0.38±0.55 0.67±0.67 1.10±0.57, indicating improvement continuous most common reason non-adherence forgetfulness. Poor treatment lack remains major obstacle management patients. Hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders remain leading causes Disease.
